The past few weeks have made for some miserable weather here in the southeast. We have had storm after storm, and one tornado warning after another. The northeast has seen high winds, flooding, and power outages, the west coast has seen wild fires, strong storms, and flooding, and how can we forget about the deadly tornadoes cycling through Oklahoma!
Weather can be unpredictable, which is why it is a good idea to be prepared. You should have an emergency evacuation plan, a survival kit/first-aid kit, a remote location to seek shelter in, and emergency food and communication supplies. Your finances can also be unpredictable, which is why you should listen to the awesome financial advice from my friends below!
Here is what went on at Money for College Project as well as with my Yakezie friends. Enjoy!

Thanks for the shout out! We do not have any kind of emergency plan, but you’re right that that’s definitely something we should think about. Even a real first-aid kit would be a good start. Also my phone battery dies like every 5 minutes, which wouldn’t be incredibly helpful if we had to suddenly evacuate.

@Matt – I second that on the phone battery. I have looked into buying a small solar charger for our cell phone, rechargable flashlight things like that. I’ve not broken down to do it yet, but I think it would be a great investment.

I was just talking to a friend about how crazy the weather has been across the entire country! I’m in the northeast, and we have had heavy rain, winds, and flooding in this area (and even a tornado scare).
Thanks for including me in your roundup.

@Khaleef – It really has been a rough few weeks. And with Hurricane season about to ramp up, I dont think the next few months will be any better.

While I don’t wish bad weather on anyone, I’d LOVE some rain. I write far better when it rains (no clue….it just flows). Sadlyl, I picked a place to live where the rains are few and far between.

Haha! Maybe you could get a sound machine with rain on it and sit it by your desk as you type.
The weather is getting crazier all the time! Thank you for including us in your roundup!
